Paw Paula Nubian Goat

In recent years I had the privilege of getting to know a family of Nubian goats - spanning several generations. They are extremely close and affectionate creatures and being accepted into their herd was a very heartwarming experience. "Paw Paula" was one of a set of triplets. All were beautiful and very endearing but Paw Paula seemed to connect with me very closely soon after her birth. She would gaze at me so warmly with her lovely golden eyes and follow me where ever I went. I learned the particular way she liked her face and back rubbed and caressed. The moment I stopped - she would gently paw at me until I resumed her grooming and love. I was rewarded with silly noises and kisses on my face. Those sweet reminders with her paw became her trademark right into her adulthood. She will always have a special place in my heart. Each and every goat I have met has a unique and fascinating personality. Each has taught me the special gift of connection. Please get to know our wondrous Earth Family and offer them the respect and consideration they all deserve.

SWAN portrait ~ oil on board painting
SWAN ~ Sir Gregory
original oil on board portrait by
© Karrel Christopher
measures 30 x 33 cm ~ available for purchase
This last year I have had the pleasure of getting to know and befriending the swan couple on the neighborhood pond. By spending much time with them ~ just respectfully sitting with them and speaking softly ~ with my voice and heart. We have formed a wonderful connection where they are totally at ease with me. They see me and quickly approach with enthusiasm (not because I bring them bread and other junk food)...but because we trust each other and enjoy the company. Amazingly, they both - especially the male have become protective of me. When any dog approaches me, he will assertively go after the dog - driving him or her away....then sits nearby me...relaxed, wagging his tail, resuming his grooming, making soft vocalizations and making lots of direct eye contact. It truly is a moving experience . All he has to do for his safety is get in the water and swim away. But often he will actually get out of the water to settle the situation.
It certainly feels like a very gallant gesture, so I could not resist naming him Sir Gregory. He and his partner, Lady Paula are treasured friends. Each meeting teaches me more about their character, grace, beauty and intelligence.
Every member of our Earth Family have unique and fascinating qualities and personalities. Each exist for their own reasons and deserve our compassion and protection.

ART CARDS from Turkey paintings helping animals!
ART supporting PIEBIRD FARM SANCTUARY
~ by vegan artist © Karrel Christopher
Many thanks to Sherry Milford o'Piebird & Yan Piebird of PIEBIRD Vegan Farm Sanctuary in Ontario, Canada!! I just received these fine quality ART CARDS they had printed from the oil paintings I created of their resident turkeys Rosie and Fernando. It truly is a treat to see my original paintings reproduced with such care and professionalism. When I send my art out into the world - I admit, I do miss the paintings. But with these rich and colorful cards -- it is liking having them back home again! Wow! I am overjoyed!
*Please consider supporting Piebird Farm Sanctuary and ask about the ART CARDS still available ~ as their gift for your kind donation.

ALPACA ~ oil on canvas portrait
ALPACA by © Karrel Christopher
Original oil on canvas painting ~ 9"x 12" inches
~ available for purchase ~ http://karrelchristopher.com/
An alpaca (Vicugna pacos) is a domesticated species of South American camelid. It resembles a small llama in appearance. There are two breeds of alpaca; the Suri alpaca and the Huacaya alpaca. Alpacas are kept in herds that graze on the level heights of the Andes of southern Peru, northern Bolivia, Ecuador, and northern Chile at an altitude of 3,500 m (11,500 ft) to 5,000 m (16,000 ft) above sea level, throughout the year. Alpacas are considerably smaller than llamas, and unlike llamas, they were not bred to be beasts of burden, but were bred specifically for their fiber. ~ Wikipedia
